Feel confident in every financial decision.

Never second-guess your next step. Get clear guidance that grows with you.

What we do?

We help people stop guessing and make better money decisions.

Most people don’t need more financial ideas. They need help deciding what matters now, what can wait, and what to ignore. We start by understanding your life, priorities, and goals, then build a clear plan that puts things in the right order. No rush. No pressure. Just practical decisions that make sense for where you are today.

From there, we stay involved. As your income, family, business, or plans change, we review, adjust, and help you make the next call with confidence. Our role is to keep things steady, stop small decisions from becoming costly ones, and make sure your money keeps supporting the life you’re building over time.

Frequently asked questions

Financial Planning FAQ's

The biggest difference is we start by getting to know YOU, your goals, your worries around money and the kind of life you want to live. We then design a tailored financial plan (no cookie-cutter advice here) to show you how to achieve this. Where other firms will lead with questions that focus on your income, your superannuation balance, how much cash you’ve got in the bank, whilst these are all important pieces of the process, at Balance Wealth, we believe that it shouldn’t be what defines you or your financial plan. Money is just a reflection of the life you want to live.

Another strength we have is our ability to work closely with your accountant to ensure everyone is on the same page and moving forward in the same direction. Prior to financial planning, Ben worked for two of the largest multinational accounting firms (KPMG and Grant Thornton) and this edge has allowed us to develop financial strategies that not only build wealth but are tax-efficient. Importantly, this is all
communicated back to the accountant so all are aligned.

At Balance Wealth, we are your financial guide through all of life’s ups and downs.

Our investment philosophy is built on evidence-based, systematic investing. We believe markets work, so rather than trying to predict or outguess them, we focus on capturing the long-term, reliable drivers of sharemarket returns through diversified portfolios. We keep costs low, avoid unnecessary trading, and stay disciplined through market cycles.

At Balance Wealth, we see investing as just one part of your bigger plan – your portfolio is designed to support your life, not the other way around. That’s why we focus heavily on clarity, structure, and behaviour, helping you stay consistent and
make better decisions over time – because long-term success comes from sticking to the plan, not reacting to the noise.

We work with individuals, couples, pre-retirees, retirees, and business owners who want clarity, structure, and guidance with their money and we’ll likely be a great fit if you value a long-term relationship and honest advice.

If you want to see the types of clients we work with and our results and process, head to the ‘Success Stories’ page on the website. It’s just a small snapshot of our clients and who we work with, but if you’ve ever had the following questions around your money, then we’re the team for you:

  • How do I balance enjoying my money today, but ensuring I’m set up for the future?
  • How much do I need in Superannuation to retire?
  • How do I leverage my small business to build personal wealth?
  • Should I invest in Shares or Property?
  • How much should I be saving each pay cycle?
  • How do I create a budget?
  • How many bank accounts should I have to manage household cashflow?
  • What are the best strategies to legally minimise tax each year?
  • How do I make smarter money decisions?
  • Should I pay down the mortgage, invest or contribute to Superannuation?

Not at all. We work with people at many stages of life – from early wealth builders at the start of their journey, to retirees wanting a life that supports them as well as their kids and grandkids.

What matters most is your willingness to engage in the process and want to make progress.

Not everyone needs a financial adviser, but having someone help guide your money decisions can make the world of difference. Tax laws, federal budget changes, legislation updates and just general noise in the world can contribute to a rocky experience when it comes to your money. We understand the rules, how to apply them to your advantage and ultimately design a clear and tailored solution that gets you to where you need to be.

I don’t need a mechanic – I can find all the information on my specific make and model of car online for free, and I could learn to service it myself. But I choose to send my car to the mechanic each year because I value my time, I want the job done properly, and I want confidence that costly mistakes are avoided.

A financial adviser works the same way: not because it’s impossible to do alone, but because having an expert in your corner makes the journey smoother and far less
stressful.

No. Whilst we can establish bank accounts, investment portfolios and superannuation products, you remain in control of your funds at all times. Any work necessary regarding bank accounts or investment recommendations, we will always
consult you first and seek your approval before any action is taken.

We don’t have a Trust account. Your monies are held in yours or your entity’s names and are viewable at all times either through an online portal or phone app, similar to your online banking.

Yes. Most clients choose ongoing support because life changes and they want accountability, clarity, and a trusted adviser they can call whenever they need guidance. We prefer an ongoing relationship because we want you to contact us at any time, knowing we’ll be there to help guide you through whatever life throws at you.

Strategy Plans: $3,600 – $7,700 depending on complexity

Ongoing Advice: A mix between a fixed monthly/quarterly cost, and/or a percentage of the assets we manage. We believe this structure is aligned with clients’ best interest.

All fees are transparent and discussed upfront and tailored to your situation.

Fees are paid directly by you. We don’t receive any kickbacks and have no ties with any financial institutions. Never have. Never will.

Both. We work with clients Australia-wide via Teams video, and also meet in-person across Cairns and Far North Queensland.

Yes, collaboration is strongly encouraged. Think of us as the central hub who can bring everyone together so that we’re all working towards achieving your goals as a team.

We take pride in our proactive approach at Balance Wealth to ensure goals are met, and we regularly communicate with:

Accountant: to ensure tax-minimisation strategies and small-business wealth creation strategies are actioned every year

Mortgage Broker: to identify useable equity and help launch into a client’s second or third investment property (we’ve even helped with buying your FIRST property)

Digital Marketing agency: to put you on track with your small business regarding branding and digital presence

Solicitor: to prepare your Estate Planning documents that align with your new financial plan

Buyer’s/Seller’s Agent: to ensure any property decisions are going towards building wealth and won’t leave you with an unexpected tax bill

Our advisers are fully qualified, licensed, and registered with ASIC – meeting all professional and ethical standards required in Australia. You can find us on the Australian Government Financial Adviser Register here, and also hear what our
happy clients have to say about us here.

But more importantly, we focus on how that knowledge is applied. We invest heavily in ongoing education and real-world strategy development so the advice you receive isn’t just technically correct – it’s clear, practical, and genuinely
useful in your day-to-day life.
